Gowanda PennySaver - May 12, 2002

Additional Pioneer Days events

Be sure to stop at the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce hot dog stand and get a free Pepsi product drink with every hot dog purchased. (Sponsored by Pepsi-Cola of Buffalo Bottling Corp.)

Battling bands

One of the most exciting things about the Battle of the Bands is all of the really talented young people involved. Some of the groups not only perform but also compose their own music.
This year along with Turbulence, Anton & the Rockers, and Downcast, Normal Dysfunction and Divided Seed will be playing.
Norma1 Dysfunction is made up of three talented young men. Tim Tyler and Mike Strawder are both on guitar, bass and vocals, with Jeremy Hubbard on drums. Divided Seed is a newly formed band composed of Dave Tonello on guitar and vocals, Joe "Hands" Girome is on drums, Chris Washy on the bass guitar, Adam Walker and Brandon Rivera are back-up vocals. Divided Seed's sound is moderate rock and all songs performed are originals written by Dave Tonello.
Come to the Firemen's tent to hear and see the battle starting at noon on Saturday, May 18.
Cash prizes will be presented to the winning groups. Thanks to the generosity of Mark Drugie from Mad Guitars in Alden, a guitar will be given away, and R.J. Crino is providing other prizes.

Fireworks display

Thanks to the generous donation from Steve Baldo Chevrolet, Olds, Buick, Cadillac, Inc. the fireworks will go off as scheduled on Friday, May 17 at 10 p.m.

(Rain date is May 18 at 10 p.m.)
Unfortunately, initial fund-raising efforts only realized 65 percent of what was needed for the event. Now, thanks to Baldo's generosity, the community will enjoy the fireworks as planned.
