Fourth annual Harley Happening
To raise funds and awareness toward the restoration of Gowanda's historic Hollywood Theater, the Friends of the Hollywood welcome everyone to the fourth annual Harley Happening at the Hollywood on West Main Street in Gowanda. The rally is sponsored by Molson Canadian, Coors Light, 97 Rock and Gowanda Harley-Davidson, Inc.
The rally gets under way Friday, May 3l with a community preview night starting around 7 p.m. Enjoy delicious food vendors the music of Joe Wagner. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle parade is scheduled to leave Gowanda Harley-Davidson, 2535 Gowanda Zoar Rd., at 6:55 p.m. sharp.
Saturday, June 1, beginning at 10 a.m. is for those who want to eat, drink and listen to great rock and blues. The featured music of the Aaron Johns Band, Rod Tucker, the Ozone Rangers, and the Revivals will rock the day away. Food vendors with a variety to satisfy the hungriest of bikers, plus a brand new beer garden stocked with Molson Canadian, Coors Light, Samuel Adams, N/A beer and more are contained in an atmosphere that couples can enjoy. Opening ceremonies begin at 3 p.m. and include a salute to the nation. Take the time to tour the historic Hollywood Theater and understand the restoration process.
Sunday, June 2, beginning at 10 a.m., has all the same great basic activities as Saturday (beer garden opens at noon), plus more. Between the music of Shannon & Hund and Tell Mama will be many more features. A Ride-In Bike Show, presented by Southern Tier, NY H.O.G. from noon to 3 p.m., will be the chance to see the hottost in custom motorcycles. Gowanda Harley-Davidson presents Leather and Roses, a clothing review focusing on the passion for the road with customized style will begin at 2 p.m. Following the show will be a Tattoo Contest presented by MJ Stayer. Wrapping up the rally will be one lucky person winning the keys to a brand new Harley-Davidson XL833 Sportster courtesy of Gowanda Harley-Davidson.
A special attraction on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be the Miller Lite/Harley-Davidson Rusty Wallace NASCAR show car. With a commemorative joint logo this car burns up the track standing still. (Brought to you by Gowanda Harley-Davidson.)
There is no admission fee. Rally attendants are encouraged to spend generously with the vendors and local businesses, who in return support the theater through donations. The Harley Happening committee is grateful to all of the volunteers who work year round to organize the Harley Happening at the Hollywood and sponsors who provide the capital to present such a wonderful event to benefit the Hollywood Theater. Once restored the Hollywood Theater is to become a regional center for the performing arts and spur economic growth in Gowanda.
