| Locke & Vosburg, Gowanda Plow Works, Nelson's Diner, Don Campbell's Red & White Super Market, Gowanda Super Duper, Gowanda Jubilee - In October 1954, Don Campbell closes his supermarket for three days to remodel. Automated checkout counters and self-service meat cases are installed. By 1958, more space is needed and a foundation is laid for a $40,000 addition. Mayor Ralph Schaack has the honor on Jan. 20, 1959 of cutting the ribbon during the grand reopening celebrating the 10,000-square-foot addition. In all, the store has been expanded five times and is now known as Gowanda Jubilee, owned by Jim and Laurie Fort. (Photo courtesy of Don Campbell.) |
