Water Street - This is a view of Water Street looking up toward the dam and prior to the railroad installation. The trestle spanning the Cattaraugus Creek is completed in 1874, as is the depot, and the first train, drawn by the engine "Susquehanna," crosses the bridge on Oct. 17. The railroad is formally opened a week later as a train from Buffalo arrives in Gowanda and the Mayor of Buffalo - L.P. Dalton - and other dignitaries are greeted at the depot.
