The Mansion House, R.H. Irish Groceries, Bank of Gowanda, Marine Trust Company, Persia Town Hall - In 1914, the Bank of Gowanda relocates from Main Street to the newly constructed brick building on the square. Around 1955, the Bank of Gowanda merges with Marine Trust Company of Western New York. When Marine Midland's new building on West Main Street is finished in 1966, the bank gives the stately structure on the corner of West Main and Jamestown Streets to the Town of Persia for a town hall. Occupying the top floor of the buiding from 1972 until 2000 is the Gowanda Area Historical Society museum. The Persia Town board is currently pursuing having the building listed on the State and National Registry of Historic Places. (Postcard courtesy of the Gowanda Area Historical Society.)
