| Roffe's Model Bakery - In 1911, at the age of 16, Charles Roffe starts working for his father at the bakery. He learns the trade, leaves to serve in World War I and returns to continue helping out in the family business. On Christmas Eve day, 1959, Roffe's Model Bakery closes its doors for the last time, after 63 years as part of the Gowanda business district. Eventually the building is torn down and the site is now a small parking area with a "pass-through" driveway to Jamestown Street. Taking a break from bakery action to capture a moment on film, pictured from left, are: Frank Hartman, Charles Roffe, Fred Roffe and Frank Connelly.
