Undated photo
Revisiting the past - I recently received correspondence from Mr. William Lenox Thoen of Massachusetts, who penned the following: "I noticed the Historical Society's picture of 10 'Gowanda Girls' on the Reflections page of this paper dated Dec. 15, 2002. My mother, Lucy Lenox, is in the picture, and I have the identical photograph with the names of each girl written on it in my mother's handwriting. I'm sure her identification of the girls is correct. They are, as you look at the photo: Third (back) row: Irene Sipple, Lydia Warner and Doris VanDeusen. Second (middle) row: Doris Becker, Margaret Borden, Ruth Schmidt and Caroline Ubel. First (front) row: Helene Law, Lucy Lenox and Veronica McIntyre."

I always welcome corrected information and am grateful to those who help in my efforts to accurately present a record of this area that is so rich in history - Mary Pankow    (Photo courtesy of Gowanda Historical Society.)
