Campfire companions - A mother alpaca and her baby "visit" with a family of covered wagon campers at Gilbert and Velma Nagle's farm on the corner of Fairview Drive and Maltbie Road in Gowanda. Crafted from logs and then painted, the wooden figures are examples of the work of David Weatherley, of Heartwood Gallery, Ashville. Weatherley, a chainsaw sculptor, will be demonstrating his custom wood artistry during the Nagle's annual open barn on Sunday, Oct.15 from 1 to 5 p.m. Open to the public, and free, the open-barn event allows adults and children the opportunity to see exotic animals such as a wallaby, a camel, llamas, pygmy goats, peacocks and alpacas.
