'Paddle' boats - Several outdoor enthusiasts took advantage of the newly opened Bi-County Waterway kayaking and canoeing its waters in Cherry Creek Saturday (Sept.16). Dug as a dredge in the 1800s to safeguard the area from flooding, the waterway has been cleared of debris through town, county, state and resident efforts and is now open for recreation purposes. Evergreen Outfitters provided canoes and kayaks Saturday and wagon rides were given to and from the launch area from the village. Other activities Saturday included a Taste of Amish and Railroad Market at the Cherry Creek Depot as well as buggy rides and crafting displays in town.(Photos by Maureen Stockdale.)
