Hubert S. McDaniels, 83, of Silver Creek, died Jan. 19, 2006 at the Ball Pavilion at Brevillier Village in Erie.
Mr. McDaniels was a 1940 graduate of Silver Creek High School and was a 1948 alumnus of Bryant & Stratton in Buffalo. He served with the U.S.Army’s 84th Infantry Division in the European Theatre during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and attained the rank of Sergeant, receiving the Bronze Star, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and American Campaign Medal. Mr. McDaniels was employed as a mail clerk for the U.S. Post Office in Silver Creek for many years. He was a member of Samuel Cimino VFW Post 6472, where he served as chaplain for many years. He also belonged to the Hanover Memorial American Legion Post, of which he was a past commander, and the First United Church of Silver Creek. Mr. McDaniels was a former member of the Buffalo Stamp Club.
He was the son of the late Wesley and Louise (Clees) McDaniels; brother of Grace Schlick of Erie, PA and the late Harley and Charles McDaniels; and brother-in-law of Flora McDaniels of Silver Creek; also survived by four nephews and one niece.
Arrangements were by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek.
