Thomas “Tom” P. Nowak, 58, of Brocton, died Oct. 3, 2005, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Nowak was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1965 and also graduated from Fredonia State University in 1970. He was a retired middle school science teacher for Cassadaga Valley Central School, where he taught for 33 years. While Mr. Nowak was employed at Cassadaga Valley Central School, he was a junior high Student Council advisor for 20 years. He was a lifelong contributor to the Christian Children’s Fund, the Adopt-A-Child Program, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Mr. Nowak also did private tutoring through the years, and to many students he was known not only as a teacher, but also as a counselor, mentor and friend. He was an avid hunter and along with gardening he also enjoyed fishing, snorkeling, reading, traveling, and playing bingo.
He was the son of Helen (Sypniewski) Nowak of Brocton and the late Henry Nowak; and brother of John Nowak of Lyndonville, James Nowak of Proctor, AR, and Lynette Arnold of Webster; also survived by two uncles, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
