Lena M. Danahy
October 15, 1909 - October 6, 2005

     Lena Mary Danahy, 95, formerly of Gowanda, died Oct. 6, 2005 at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia.
     Ms. Danahy was a graduate of Sisters Hospital School of Nursing and served as a nurse in the U.S. Navy in Guam during World War II. She then attended the University of Buffalo and received a master’s degree in education. Ms. Danahy was employed as a guidance counselor by the Buffalo school system until her retirement in 1972. She also retired from the Naval Reserve in 1971 as a lieutenant commander. Ms. Danahy was a member of St. Michael’s R.C. Church in Buffalo.
     She was the daughter of the late William and Augusta (Komertz) Danahy; brother of the late William A. and Francis Danahy; and aunt of Joan Gugino of Apple Valley, MN, John Danahy of Minneapolis, MN, and Paul Danahy of Rochester.
     Arrangements were by the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., Gowanda.
