John N. “Jack” Schmitt, 79, of Silver Creek, died Oct. 7, 2005 after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Schmitt was a lifelong resident of Silver Creek. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines on a PT boat. He received the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal.
Mr. Schmitt was a self-employed home improvement contractor for 51 years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Loyal Order of the Moose.
An avid bowler and golfer, he also enjoyed softball, fishing, playing poker with friends, going to casinos and had an interest in antiques and collectibles.
He was the husband of Elda (MacLeod) Schmitt; son of the late John L. and Edna (Boye) Schmitt; father of Katheryn Burek of Detroit, MI and John Schmitt of Dayton, OH; and brother of Joan Suski of Silver Creek, Doris Chapman of West Seneca, Judy Wilson of Silver Creek, and the late Robert Schmitt; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek.
