DeEtta E. (Cadwell) Lawton, 93, of Williamsville, formerly of Hanover Center, died Oct. 14, 2004 at the Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville.
Mrs. Lawton was a graduate of the former Fredonia Normal School, and earned her master’s degree from Fredonia State College University.
She was a school teacher at Smith Mills Rural School for several years, and retired in 1974 after teaching for 35 years at Forestville Elementary School.
She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the former Hanover Center Church and several other church, school and civic organizations, and past member of the South Hanover Farmer’s Club and the Hanover Ladies Aid Society.
She was the wife of the late Edwin R. Lawton; daughter of the late Floyd and Della (McPherson) Cadwell; mother of Richard W. (Mary) Lawton of Niagara Falls and the late Thomas W. Lawton; and sister-in-law of Helen Ostrye of Forestville and Isabelle Schneider of Collins Center; also survived by five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Silver Creek Fire Department Emergency and Rescue Squad.
Arrangements were by the Riles and Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.
