Dorothy Mingle
     Dorothy (Privitera-Totaro) Mingle, 89, of Farnham and Lake Shore Nursing Home, died July 23, 2004 at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving.
     A resident of Farnham for most of her life, she was very active in her community. Mrs. Mingle was a long-time member of the Grange and won several awards for women’s sewing crafts at the Erie County Fair.
     Her memberships included St. Anthony’s Ladies Guild and the Farnham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was recently honored for her many volunteer activities while she was a resident of the Lake Shore Nursing Home in Irving.
     As a writer, she submitted articles for various publications throughout the years and had a regular weekly column in the Evans Journal. She also researched and saved scrapbooks on local events. At one point, Mrs. Mingle had more than 100 pen pals throughout the world. She visited several pen pals and had visits from a pen pal from England and another from New Zealand.
     Mrs. Mingle was active with senior citizen organizations in the area and also enjoyed travel. She and her husband Joseph were foster parents to several children.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Totaro and the late Jay Mingle; daughter of the late Francis and Frances (Robinson) Privitera; mother of Frank Totaro of Winter Haven, FL, Norma Forbes of Collins, D. Carol Kuell of Silver Creek, and the late Marie Bock, Shirley Chiappone and an infant son; and sister of Melvin Privitera of Winter Haven, FL, and the late Donald and Alvin; also survived by 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek.
