Irene L. Minckler, 88, of Sinclairville, died July 4, 2004 in Heritage Village Health Care Center, Gerry. A Chautauqua County resident most of her life, she was a graduate of Cherry Creek High School and a 1988 graduate of Jamestown Community College, receiving her associates of art degree at 72. She also was a 1991 graduate of Empire State College at the age of 75. Mrs. Minckler served as the Sinclairville Library librarian from 1967 to 1982 and as deputy village clerk and treasurer from 1967 to 1975. She was also a full-time homemaker. She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church and had been involved with various ladies organizations and had held many different offices within them. She was a member of the Sinclairville 76ers, Sinclairville Senior Citizens and a charger member of the Valley Historical Society. She was a 4-H volunteer for 18 years with the 7’upers and wrote a book “In My Own Back Yard.” Mrs. Minckler enjoyed quilting and was a member of the American Quilters Society, making more than 300 quilts. She was the wife of the late W. Earl Minckler; daughter of the late Clifford Martin and Lenora May Martin; mother of Phoebe Forbes of Frewsburg and the late Linda Carol Minckler; and sister of Mabel Ulrich and the late Marjorie Libby, Walter Libby, Ray W. Libby and Clifford H. Libby; also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Sinclairville Free Library, P.O. Box 609, Sinclairville, NY 14782-0609.
