Mr. York served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 409 and VFW Post 5007, both of Gowanda. He also belonged to Phoenix Lodge F&AM No. 262, Slovenian Club and Moose Lodge #1382, all of Gowanda.
He was the husband of Martha (Wright) York and the late Evelyn L. York; son of the late Frank W. Sr. and Dorothy (Maine) York; father of Allen York of Connecticut, David York of Cherry Creek, Walter York III of South Dayton, Edward C. York of Gowanda, Ann York of Connecticut, and Sandy Johnson of Collins; and brother of the late Billy C. York; also survived by several stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
