John Swientonlowski
     John Swientonlowski, 93, of Dunkirk and Forestville, died Feb. 12, 2004 in Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.
     During World War II, Mr. Swientonlowski served with the Polish Army and was captured as a prisoner of war. He was released at the conclusion of the war in 1945.
     At one time, he had lived in France. Upon his arrival in the United States in 1951, he was employed at Dunkirk Radiator.
     In 1955, he started his own business, John's Garage in Sheridan, where he was a mechanic and collision specialist.
     Mr. Swientonlowski was a member of St. Hedwig's Church and the Kosciuszko Polish Home.
     He was the husband of the late Barbara Swientonlowski; son of the late Aloyjzo and Victoria (Leja) Swientonlowski; and brother of Maria Gruszka of Poland, and the late Stanley, Frank, Anthony, Walter, Joseph, Stephan, Caroline, Clementina, Julie, Stefania, Antonia, Josephine and Frances; also survived by two nieces, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
     Arrangements were by the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., Dunkirk.
