John D. Lafferty
     John D. Lafferty, 81, of Silver Creek, died Feb. 4, 2004 in Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
     An Olean High School graduate, Mr. Lafferty earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from St. Bonaventure University and received certification as a guidance counselor and principal. He also participated in the ROTC program. DuringWorld War II, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army in France, Germany and Italy.
     Mr. Lafferty spent his entire career at Forestville Central School, where he was active in school activities. He began as a teacher of English and Latin, served as a guidance counselor, and retired in 1978 as principal.
     He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed music, reading, yard work and gardening.
     He was the husband of Margaret (Graf) Lafferty; son of the late Hugh and Anna (Eisert) Lafferty; and brother of Hugh Lafferty of Cos Cobb, CT, and the late Robert Lafferty; also survived by nieces and nephews.
     Arrangements were by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel Inc., Silver Creek.
