Doris Slawson
     Doris V. (Gritman) Slawson, 91, of Silver Creek, died Feb. 8, 2004 at the Lake Shore Nursing Home in Irving.
     A college graduate, Mrs. Slawson was a certified teacher. She worked with her husband on the family farm which became known as Chadakoin Farms.
     She was active member of the First United Church in Silver Creek, where she was a former deacon. She also belonged to Silver Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Silver Creek. She was a past member of the Weavers Guild of Westfield, a weaver's design group called Treadlers, and the Home Bureau.
     Mrs. Slawson traveled extensively in Europe and Mexico and wintered in Florida for 25 years, where she was involved with activities in Winterset Park. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, quilting, leatherwork, aluminum engraving, and making and tailoring clothes.
     She was the wife of the late Newton Slawson; daughter of the late Edgar and Irene (Bundy) Gritman; mother of Richard Slawson of Forestville and Marilyn Clark of Lawrence, KS; and sister of the late Donald Gritman; also survived by three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
     Arrangements were by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel Inc., Silver Creek.
