Mrs. Barthel had been employed as an attendant at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1968. She was a member of the Gowanda Women of the Moose, Slovenian Club, Gowanda Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary, L.K. Painter Center and the Collins Center Senior Citizens.
She was the wife of the late Gordon Barthel; daughter of the late George and Mae (Shields) Margeson; mother of Beverly (Robert) Gurney and Sandra (Joseph) Perchy, both of Gowanda, and Gregory Barthel of Pekin, IL; and sister of the late Leah Lay, Orlo Everett and Arthur Margeson; also survived by 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Gowanda Ambulance or the Gowanda Volunteer Fire Department.
