Carrie (Hemlock) Stevens, of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, died Jan. 11, 2004. Mrs. Stevens was a member of the American Legion Post 1587 Ladies Auxiliary, former Peace Maker judge for the Seneca Nation and a former Seneca Language teacher for Gowanda School. She was also a founding member of the Newton Minor Lacrosse Association. She was the wife of Karmen Stevens; mother of Jon (Julie) Stevens and Eric Stevens; and sister of Adeline Leaf, Alice Thordahl, Leeland Hemlock, and the late Lucy Mohawk, Mary White and Robert Jimerson; also survived by five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by the Wentland Funeral Home, North Collins. |
