Jeanne E. Johnson
     Jeanne E. (Erickson) Johnson, 81, of Gowanda, died Dec. 22, 2003 at the Buffalo General Hospital.
     She was Miss Nebraska, representing her state in 1939. She went on to the Miss America Pageant in 1940.
     Mrs. Johnson was a volunteer for the Tri-County Memorial Hospital for many years, serving on the hospital auxiliary. She and her husband owned the former Ben Franklin Retail Store in Gowanda on West Main Street for 33 years.
     She was the wife of James B. Johnson; daughter of the late Oliver and Omelia (Barnard) Erickson; mother of Mary McCann of North Collins and William E. Johnson of Eden; and sister of Mary Hogsett of New Mexico, Carol Gilbertson of Northbrook, IL, and the late Jack Erickson and Evelyn Cullen; also survived by a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
     Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, c/o the Ismailia Temple.
     Arrangements were by the Schindler Funeral Home, Gowanda.
