Olaf Carlson
     Olaf W. Carlson, 91, of Flagler Beach, FL, formerly of Collins, died Sept. 18, 2003.
     Mr. Carlson was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Europe. He served as town justice for the Town of Collins for 26 years, and retired in 1975 as district engineer for the Erie County Highway Department. He was a past member of the Gowanda Chapter, IOOF, VFW Post 5007, American Legion Post 409, Gowanda and Collins VFD, and the NYS Magistrates' Association.
     Mr. Carlson had been an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a keen card player. In his youth, he played banjo in a local band and was drum major for the Gowanda Fire Company's marching band.
     He was the husband of Violet Carlson of Flagler Beach, FL, and the late Ada A. (Mathewson) Carlson and Mildred (Wurzer) Carlson of Collins; son of the late Frederick and Mary Carlson; father of Mary A. (Richard) Clark of Gowanda and Paul F. (Lynette) Carlson of Collins; stepfather of Joan Barone of Buffalo, Diane (Randall) Culbert of Ormond Beach, FL, and Raymond Stadler of Derby; and brother of the late Olga M. Peterson; also survived by five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
     In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made in Olaf s name to Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, 770 West Granada Blvd., Ste. 102, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
