C. Edward Kaufman
     C. Edward Kaufman, 85, of Silver Creek died Aug. 8, 2003 at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving after a brief illness.
     A Silver Creek resident for most of his adult life, Mr. Kaufman received a bachelors degree in French and English from Hobart College, a masters in library science from Cornell University and a master's in English and administration from Syracuse University.
     He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II.
     Mr. Kaufman was an English and French teacher at Silver Creek High School from 1943 to 1982. He also served as chairperson of the English Department. He taught English in Athens, Greece as part of a two-year Fulbright Scholarship.
     He was a member of Victory Service Club in London, England, and a member and past president of the Silver Creek Teachers Association. He also belonged to St. Alban's Episcopal Church, where he served as vestryman.
     He was the son of the late Edward L. and Mary Louise (Reagan) Kaufman; brother of the late Doris K. Spohn and lnez (Ogden) Graves; and uncle of Charlotte (James) Colton of Clifton Park, Mary Ellen Graves of Middleport, CA, and Sandra (Douglas) Brown of Attica; also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.
     Arrangements were by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek.
