Fred Oakes

Fred D. Oakes, 72, of Cattaraugus, died July 26, 2003.      Mr. Oakes owned and operated a dairy farm in Cattaraugus, retiring in 1994. He was an avid bowler, bowling on the Paul Wright Memorial League. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.      He was the husband of Janice M. (Philbrick) Oakes of Cattaraugus; son of Fred B. and Evelyn (Bosworth) Oakes, of Gowanda; father of David R. (Debra) Oakes of Cherry Creek, Danny L. (Betty) Oakes of New Albion, Daryl S. (Jody) Oakes of New Albion, Deborah L. (Scott) Miller of Scio, and Dawn M. (Tarry) Klahn of East Otto; and brother of Dorothy Edington of Cherry Creek; also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.      Memorials may be made to the Comstock Hospice of WNY.      Arrangements were by the Hills Funeral Chapel, Cattaraugus.
