Edward Wojnicki, 84, of Otto, died July 27, 2003. Mr. Wojnicki served in the Army during World War II, having attained the rank of PFC. He fought in battles/campaigns at Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. He received the American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart. Mr. Wojnicki was a retired smutter for International Multi Foods, where he worked for 45 years. He was a member of St. Mary's RC Church, Cattaraugus and an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler. He was a member of the Salamanca Morning Mixed Couples Bowling League and the Monday Senior Bowling League. Mr. Wojnicki was also a member of Gowanda VFW Post 409. He was the husband of the late Helen J. Wojnicki; son of the late Stanislaus Wojnicki and the late Teofila (Szczeczyk) Wojnicki Imiola; father of Carol M. (Mark) Schiffhauer of Hamburg, Betty A. (Dale) Wickham of Gowanda, and Edward L. Wojnicki of Gainesville, VA; and brother of Harry Wojnicki of Buffalo, Florence Wojnicki of Cheektowaga, and the late Victoria Zielenski and Steven Mooney; also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Comstock Hospice of WNY. Arrangements were by the Hills Funeral Chapel, Gowanda. |
