Herbert Meyer

Herbert L. "Hap" Meyer, 87, of Collins, died June 25, 2003 at the Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda.      Mr. Meyer was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired as chief of nursing from Gowanda State Hospita1after 40 years of service.      He also worked as an anesthetist at Tri-County Memorial Hospital.      Mr. Meyer was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 409, both of Gowanda. He formerly served on the board of directors of Tri-County Memorial Hospital.      He was the husband of Eleanor (Spring) Meyer; son of the late John and Clara (Wickham) Meyer; father of Paul (Karen) Meyer of Walworth and Mary Lee Meyer-Balconi of Toronto; and brother of the late Cordelia Porter, Albert, Lothar and Paul G. Meyer; also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.      Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gowanda.      Arrangements were by the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., Gowanda.
