| Society salute - Members of the Gowanda Area Historical Society present a flag, created by the ladies of Gowanda, to Civil War re-enactors of Company H of the 64th New York Volunteer Infantry, the Gowanda Guard, in September 1991. A number of other activities take place at this time, including a graveside tribute in Pine Hill Cemetery to Col. Thomas J. Parker, organizer of the original 64th Militia in 1853 and first commander of the 64th NYVI during the Civil War. (Photo courtesy of Phil Palen.) | ||||||||||
