| Soggy subs and rainy rescue - On Aug. 1 1986, Thatcher Brook overflows its banks and floods the village. Nearly four inches of rain overwhelms the waterway that winds through the village and has devastating effects on homes, businesses and possessions. In the photo on left, the murky water fills Jamestown Street. On the right is a shot of Walnut Street and emergency equipment and manpower coming to the rescue of residents.
