Celebrating a century - In 1984, Gowanda Volunteer Fire Department celebrates its 100th anniversary. Slated for the June gala days event are a Firemen's Tug of War, auto accident demonstration, kid's parade, fire costume contest, firemen's barrel roll, dances, beard and mustache contest, fire equipment display and judging, giant parade and amusement rides all four days.
