Countdown to the Millennium - 1967
Expansion - After many months of fund-raising activities and various discussions with state officials, including the approval by Governor Rockefeller of a $150,000 supplemental Appalachian grant, Tri-County Memorial Hospital turns over the first shovelful of dirt for construction of its new 30-bed extended care wing. As the building project gets under full swing, a 17-year "birthday party" is held for the hospital. Since opening, the facility has registered 35,225 inpatients and 6,390 deliveries in the maternity ward. (Photo courtesy of Gowanda Area Historical Society)
