Collins Public Library news
The Collins Public Library is expanding its annual fundraiser this year to include a great deal more than the book and cookie sale.
Thanks to the wonderful generosity of local businesses, there will be a raffle of over $700 worth of gift certificates. (Tickets will be sold at the library with the drawing to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.)
The three-day event begins during regular library hours on Thursday, Aug. 14 and continues through Friday Aug.15 and Sat. Aug.16.
On Friday from noon until 3 p.m.,”Punkin” the clown will be on hand to delight the youngsters regardless of age.
The finale on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. will feature Leeron Zydeco and the Hot Tamales Band, providing some lively music during a hot-dog roast held in the parking lot. The hot-dog sale, sponsored by Erie County Legislator John J. Mills, is another fundraiser for the library.
Used hardcover books will sell for a $1 each, paperbacks for 25 cents, magazines at 10 cents, as well as used videos and CDs for 50 cents; all items will be in good condition. Cookies made by Friends of the Collins Library will be offered for sale at a table near the book sale room.
Beth Dicembre and Donna Powell are co-chairing the book sale. The cookie committee is comprised of Jean Vogtli, Judy Hotnich and Betty Dicembre.
