STAR Program Deadline

     All Homeowners: if you own and occupy your home, you are eligible for the basic STAR (New York State School Tax Relief) program which gives exemptions for property taxes to be paid. Residents must submit applications to their town assessor in order to benefit from this program.

     Senior citizen homeowners are reminded that they must renew their STAR Program applications by March 1, 2006 for Cattaraugus County homeowners or May 1, 2006 for Erie County homeowners.

     To apply for either the basic or enhanced STAR exemption, you must file application form RP-425 (available from your assessor or online) with the assessor of your town on or before the applicable “taxable status date”. The deadline for applying for the STAR exemption is March 1, 2006 for Cattaraugus County and May 1, 2006 for Erie County homeowners.
