Gowanda PennySaver News - February 19, 2006

Holiday Homes - In December, children and their parents were invited to make graham cracker houses with Explore & More at the Collins Public Library. Proud builders included (top left) Christian Flier and his father, Leonard; Nick Marrocco (top right); Shannon Carnall (bottom left); and Abigail Valone and her mother, Michelle (bottom right). A recent survey indicated that most of the houses were demolished because they were “really good to eat!”

Spring story hours at Collins Library

The Collins Public Library is pleased to announce that the spring Family Story Hour Series will begin on Saturday, March 4. The program is intended for children 3 to 10 years of age, and will encourage children to explore a variety of enjoyable topics through books, crafts, and snacks. The 10-week series will continue through Monday, May 8.

The programs are free of charge, and parents are encouraged to make reservations for their children. Each story hour will be offered on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and again on Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate family schedules.

The Collins Public Library would also like to remind parents that a B&ECPL library card is free for any child who physically attends school in Erie County, even if the child resides outside of Erie County. Eligible schools include Blossom Garden School, Gowanda Christian Academy, Gowanda Elementary School (grades K-4), Gowanda Universal Pre-kindergarten, Head Start, L.K. Painter Preschool, and St. Joseph School.
