Gowanda Wrestling Club news...
The Gowanda Tigers traveled to Lewiston-Porter High School for their third tournament of the season. Gowanda’s wrestlers who attended this tournamen all walked away placing in the top three of their divisions. Two of the wrestlers, Lucas Brawdy and Isaiah Utley, ended up in the championship round against each other in their division, with Brawdy taking first. All of the wrestlers earned at least one pin, including Hunter Simmons who earned the first Tech-Pin of the season, which is a 15-0 score match.
Wrestlers included: Lucas Brawdy and Marty Hastie, placing first in their divisions; Lucas McKeever and Isaiah Utley, placing second in their divisions; and Nathan Brawdy, Marc Muscarella and Hunter Simmons, each taking third in their divisions.
Hastie and Simmons each earned their fourth pins of the season; McKeever earned his third pin of the season; Nathan Brawdy, Muscarella and Utley each earned their first pins of the season. Additionally, Lucas Brawdy earned his first three pins of the season with a clean sweep by winning all three of his matches by pinning his opponents.
The club’s next competition will be Feb. 12 at the Niagara Wheatfield Tournament.
