Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
(VITA) program
St. Bonaventure University accounting students will prepare tax returns without charge for individuals and couples who meet guidelines. The VITA program is designed to help low-income workers receive the maximum benefit from the federal and state Earned Income Credit.
Requirements:
• You must live in Cattaraugus County
• You must have salary or wages
• Your total income must be less than the following:
Single -
no children, $11,750;
one child, $31,030;
two or more children, $35,263.
Married filing joint -
no children, $13,750;
one child, $33,030;
two or more children, $37,263.
• Your interest and dividend income must be less than $2,700.
The students cannot prepare your tax return if you:
• Are self-employed
• Have capital gains or losses
• Itemize deductions
When you come to the VITA location, you must bring:
• Your (and your spouse’s) valid picture I.D.
• Your (and your spouse’s) Social Security card(s)
• Your children’s Social Security cards
• All of your (and your spouse’s) Forms W-2 (for wages)
• All of your (and your spouse’s) Forms 1099 (for other types of income)

Franklinville Fire Hall, Feb. 8 and March 25 (tentative);
Randolph Free Library Feb. 25 and April 8;
Cattaraugus County Building (Little Valley), March 18 and April 1.
