Gowanda Planning Board update

At the Jan. 23 Gowanda Planning Board meeting, the following transpired:

Mary Dankert attended the meeting as a guest to assist with the proposed Animal Control Local Law rewrite. Since there have been many complaints about cats, the proposed law dealswith stray cats.

The main focus of the meeting was to work on finalizing the draft of Chapter 54, Animal Control, of the Village Code Book. Dankert’s input, as well as Village Trustee Carol Sheibley’s notes, were considered and, where appropriate, clarifications were included in the rewrite as well as clarifying additions added. Comments concerning breeders and kennel operations were added. The most recent modifications do not change the intent of the first draft of the Animal Control Local Law as previously presented.

The next topics to be reviewed by the Planning Board relate to Site Plan Approval Processes and Landscape and Streetscape Standards.

The next meeting of the planning board is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
