   Smith pursues
town clerk position

Karen (Lipinski) Smith announces that she continues to pursue the position of Persia town clerk. She has the Conservative endorsement.

Smith is a lifelong resident of the Town of Persia. She graduated in 1975 from Gowanda Central School.

After graduating from Alfred State College, Smith pursued her legal career working for Levant M. Himelein, Jr., attorney of Gowanda, for 20 years. Thereafter she was employed by Weyand and Weyand, attorneys, also of Gowanda. Recently, Smith was hired for the court clerk position in the Town of Persia for Adolph H. Namlik, justice. She is also a certified notary public.

Her 30 years experience in accounting, record keeping, computer programs and the many legal aspects that accompany the job would make her an asset if elected to the town clerk position.

While her children were growing up, Smith was involved with community youth programs. She volunteered as head coach for the Little League Cheerleaders and assistant coach for the Gowanda Central School Cheerleaders. She is a member of the Women of the Moose and the Slovenian Club of Gowanda and St. Joseph’s Church.

Smith says she believes the Town of Persia and the Village of Gowanda are very special places to live and raise families. Being a resident for almost 50 years, she says she feels she knows the majority of the community and is willing to “go the extra mile” to help the Town of Persia residents’ needs.

She is married to Jim Smith and they have resided in the Town of Persia for the past 22 years. They have two children, Brad, 23, and Shannon, 20.
