Gowanda Recreation news
The Village of Gowanda Recreation six-week co-ed soccer program concluded their second season on Oct. 13. The program welcomed over 40 participants who were taught the basic skills of the game and had a chance to demonstrate those skills each week during organized recreational games.
The roller-skating program will begin at the Center Street School on Friday, Nov. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. The program is open to all district residents in grades K-6. The cost is $1 for each participant regardless of residency. A supervisor and five counselors are needed to staff this program. All interested parties should obtain an application from the Village Office at 27 East Main. Parents and students are reminded not to arrive before 6:45 p.m. All children must be picked up no later than 9 p.m. This program is strictly for children in grades K-6 who wish to roller skate or roller blade. No other activities will be held during this two-hour activity period.
The “Learn to Ski” program will hold sign-ups in the Village Board Room from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24 and Wednesday, Oct. 26. Students in grades 5-12 who reside in the Gowanda Central School District are eligible to participate in this program. Adults over the age of 21 interested in chaperoning are requested to sign up at the Village Office during normal business hours.
The Saturday morning recreation program for students in grades 5-12 is tentatively scheduled to begin on Dec. 3 at the high school. There is no cost for this program.
The Monday night men’s basketball program is tentatively scheduled to begin on Dec. 5 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in either the high school or middle school gymnasium. The cost remains at $2 per person for each night. Questions regarding the recreation program should be directed to Mark Benton at 532-4053.
