GCY news...

Gowanda Community Youth is grateful to Sue Torrance and Alice Tschopp for allowing them the opportunity to participate in the scarecrow competition and Heritage Day. GCY had a great time helping to set up Friday evening, Sept. 23, and selling snacks Saturday afternoon. The volunteers dressed like scarecrows and entertained many of the village residents. GCY members decided that they would donate all of the proceeds from their sales to the SPCA’s Hurricane Katrina fundraiser for animals stranded in New Orleans. GCY won third place for their scarecrow that sits outside of the post office, and it was unanimously decided that this money would also be donated to the SPCA.
