Women’s fitness center
opens in Gowanda
Recently, Bella Bodyworks, a women’s fitness center located in Gowanda next to House of Television and Gowanda Eye Care, opened to the public. Owner Dawn S. Green said she is excited about bringing a style of fitness center to the Gowanda area that caters specifically to the needs of women.
“Many women simply are not comfortable in large co-ed facilities,” Green comments. “At this club, women will find a supportive atmosphere where they can focus on the health and wellness benefits of exercise, without all the pressures often associated with mixed-gender clubs. Plus, today’s women don’t have lots of time and they find it more difficult to fit in time for themselves with a busy schedule.”
That’s where her 30-minute circuit workout is great. The circuit provides a head-to-toe cardio and strength-training system in one stop, and feels so good that even though results are evident with this three-times-a-week program, many say they could do it every day.
Bella Bodyworks utilizes the safest and most effective type of weight-training equipment on the market today. Hydraulic resistance combines with step pads for light aerobic work in between stations. The importance of an aerobic exercise has been clearly established over the last 30 years, but strength training and weight-bearing exercise are perhaps even more important for the long-term health of women, especially as they mature or if they are trying to manage or lose weight.
Club members range in age from 13 to 75+. As the club grows, other wellness programs will be added. Bella Bodyworks is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, please call 532-4232 or stop in.
