Gowanda PennySaver News - August 7, 2005

They’re coming again!

The scarecrows are coming again! They will adorn the poles throughout the business district, private homes, and appear in front of businesses and organizations in the Gowanda area on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Judging will begin at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded intermittently during the Lynn Varney Concert by the Hollywood Theater between 2 and 3:30p.m. The word is MUM! Rumor has it that many are already putting their creativity to work, but nobody is talking because no one wants their ideas stolen!

Application packets will be available at the Gowanda Village Hall, the Gowanda Pennysaver/News, the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce, and several of the downtown businesses beginning Friday, Aug. 12. The Scarecrow Contest is part of the Heritage Harvest Festival that will be held the weekend of Sept. 24 and 25. Additional activities will include an art show, a car show, a craft show, chicken barbecue and the very popular Home and Garden Tour.

The festival committee suggests, although it may be summer think fall! Join the fun and start designing your scarecrow now!!!
