Gowanda Recreation news ...

     The Gowanda Recreation summer program concludes this Friday, Aug. 12 with a field trip to Darien Lake. The bus will leave from the front of the Gowanda Middle School following breakfast at 9:15 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. Children under the age of 9 must have a parent/guardian as a chaperone. Tickets are $22 per person.

     The final week of recreation will also feature a talent show from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, a visit from the Zoomobile on Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. in the wrestling room, and a swimming showcase in the pool from 1 to 2 p.m.

     Eastern Mountain Sports is tentatively scheduled to return on Thursday, Aug. 11 for their kayak demonstration in the pool followed by a joint field day competition with Collins Recreation from 1 to 2:15 p.m.

     The village recreation program is looking for parent volunteers to coordinate the six-week co-ed soccer program this fall beginning Sept. 6. All games will be played at the Thatcher Brook Field.
