Storm litters area with debrisby Mary Pankow At approximately 5:30 p.m. July 26, the Gowanda-area was ravaged by a storm with hurricane-force gusts of wind and torrents of rain. Trees, power lines, and limbs covered roadways and caused varying degrees of damage and many power outages. Fire departments, law enforcement agencies, emergency personnel, public works employees and others worked throughout the night to restore order to the area. By morning, most of the trees had been cut up and removed, but traces of smaller limbs and leaves were still where they had been blown, remnants of the fierce temper of Mother Nature. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.
