Gowanda Recreation news...

The Friday night roller-skating and Saturday morning swimming/basketball youth recreation programs conclude on March 18 and March 19, respectively, for the school year. Both activities will re-open in the fall. The programs were well attended and no problems of any significance were reported.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at St. John Park on Saturday, March 26. This year, children under the age of 5 will hunt for eggs from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Children in the 5-8-year-old age group will follow. All children are encouraged to bring their Easter baskets to collect their eggs. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 children in each age group who collect the most eggs during the hunt. In case of inclement weather, this event will be held the following Saturday at the same time and location.

Ballroom dancing lessons are ongoing each Sunday night at the Slovenian Club beginning at 7 p.m. If any adult couple or individual would like to join this group for the last five weeks (there is no dancing on Easter Sunday), please report to the Slovenian Club before 7 p.m. on Sunday and sign up. The cost is $20 per couple each week.

Monday night men’s basketball for adults 18 years of age and older will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on March 21, April 4, and April 11 at the high school gymnasium.

Additional activities are being planned for the spring. Please call Gowanda Recreation Director Mark Benton at 532-4053 with any questions or concerns.
