Martin’s Performance - from mild to wild
by Terri M. Bahne
Does your snowmobile need to be “kicked up a notch?” How about that motorcycle ... need a few after-market parts to soup it up to 250 mph? Or maybe your chain saw just needs some minor adjustments. From soup to nuts, from mild to wild, Frank Martin, sole owner and operator of Martin’s Performance on Jennings Road in Collins, offers a variety of services.
“Its more of a repair shop than a retail shop,” Martin declared when defining his business, although he seems to span the gamut.
Whether you need a dirt bike, water craft, ATV, or lawn mower worked on or improved upon, Martin has the connections for the needed parts as well as the ability to make your machine run. But, if you don’t see an HJC helmet that you were looking for in the shop, or a specific piece of Moose Racing Equipment, Martin can order it. Although the size of the building is appropriate for the work that is currently being done, the real estate would shrink dramatically if Martin carried every Briggs & Stratton, Oregon, Kohler Engine, or Interstate Battery on the market.
What if you are in the market to sell instead of buy? Martin primarily consigns snowmobiles and ATVs, but will take on dirt bikes and motorcycles too.
One would have to wonder where the love of diversity came from. More than likely it commenced in Martin’s youthful years with the riding and tinkering with small-engined machines. The love grew with him into adulthood as he worked for, among other things, a tractor dealership and then an ATV dealer. Finally, four years ago this May, Martin decided to work for himself - on many things.
"I like being diversified,” he declared. [Besides] “I don’t want to go into a particular [brand of] ATV or snowmobile because it’s very competitive out there.”
So, as competition is the spice of life, you may desire to have a nitrous power system added on to your street bike... and Martin is just the man to do it. Bring on the race engines, security systems, intercom systems, or other modifications - he loves to stick to the fun stuff.
With competitive rates, Martin works on anything from mild to wild, making your machine perform above and beyond par. Call him today at 532-5860 or visit the shop at 14443 Jennings Rd. in Collins.
