Gulati wins industry award
Ani Gulati, assistant general counsel for General Mills, is the recipient of The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (NAPABA) “Best Lawyers Under 40” Award for 2004.
NAPABA’s “Best Lawyers Under 40” award recognizes the talents of legal professionals within the Asian Pacific American legal community who have achieved prominence and distinction in their fields of endeavor - be it the practice of law, academia, business, civic and charitable affairs, the judiciary, or politics. The award also recognizes those demonstrating a strong commitment to civic or community affairs.
Gulati serves as assistant general counsel at General Mills where his responsibilities include managing the company’s litigation and supporting the Bakeries and Foodservice division, working on company acquisitions, reviewing premiums for safety concerns and overseeing bankruptcy.
While at General Mills, Gulati has increased spending on minority-owned firms and on minority partners at majority-owned firms. He has also served as a mentor in General Mills’ minority mentoring program. In the local community, Gulati serves on the Advisory Board of World Voices, a choral singing group performing international music.
He received his undergraduate degree from Colgate University, cum laude, in 1987 and received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1991. He was in private practice in Chicago until 1997.
Gulati is from Gowanda, where his parents, Om and Raj Gulati, still reside.
