Grant Funding - The members of the Collins Town Board visited the Town of Collins Public Library recently to facilitate the Collins Library Board of Trustees transmitting a check for $50,000 to the town. The money came from a HUD grant that was obtained by former Congressman Jack Quinn to assist with expenses incurred in building the new library.

Collins Public Library awarded HUD grant

The Board of Trustees of the Town of Collins Public Library is very pleased to announce that the library was the recipient of a $50,000 H.U.D. grant.

“Congressman Jack Quinn’s office notified the library about the award [Friday, June 18], and we were just thrilled,” said Library Board President Sal Dicembre. “The Town of Collins really stepped up to the plate when the new library was built in 2001 - this was a very large project for a small town. It is the desire of the Library Board of the Town of Collins Public Library to use this money to defray costs incurred by the Town of Collins during the construction of the new Town of Collins Public Library. We especially want to thank Congressman Jack Quinn and his staff for their assistance in securing this grant.”

Collins Town Supervisor Ken Martin expressed his thanks to Congressman Quinn, the library board, and Library Director Karen Koch for their efforts in securing this grant. "I had been hoping this grant would come through, it is a real plus for our community. The new library has filled a real need in this area, and we are very happy to have built it. It does represent a very major investment of money over time, however, and to receive this grant at this time makes us all very happy.”
