Acoustic trio to perform
at Collins Public Library
Music in the Library - A Concert Series will feature a concert by “The Reminders” on Saturday evening, Nov. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The concert will take place in the main library room of the Town of Collins Public Library, located at 2341 Main St. (Route 39) in Collins.
“The Reminders” is an acoustic trio that was formed in 1998. In 2001, “The Reminders” won the Buffalo Music Award for Best Acoustic Trio. They were nominated by the Buffalo Music Awards for Best Acoustic Trio in 2002 and 2003 as well.
“The Reminders” plays a variety of music from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s by such artists as the Beatles; Eagles; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; Neil Diamond; and many others. They also perform some original music.
The group members are Mark Pfonner on guitar and vocals, Doug Fisher on guitar and vocals, and Craig Mangus on percussion and lead vocals. All three men have been working actively in the Western New York music field for over 20 years.
Pfonner has worked with “New Breed,” “The Nickel City Band,” and “Sierra,” as well as performing as a folk entertainer at Fantasy Island amusement park. Fisher has performed with “Dynamite,” “Teaser,” “New Breed,” and “Straight Shooter.” He is also very active in his local church in various musical capacities. Mangus has worked with “New Breed,” “The Nickel City Band,” “Dynamite,” and “Crash Cadillac.” In 1997, Mangus was honored with an award as the male vocalist of the year at the Nightlife Magazine’s Buffalo-area country music awards while he was working with “The San Antonio Rose Band.”
The Friends of the Collins Public Library sponsors the monthly concert series. The concerts are free and open to the public, although free-will donations are gratefully accepted.
